Book Club: First Book Selected
The first meeting of the North Dakota State Society Book Club will occur on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.
We will be discussing "For the Love of North Dakota and other Essays" by Clay Jenkinson. As described by the author at GoodReads.com, " For the Love of North Dakota is a compilation of essays—many of which began as newspaper columns in the Bismarck Tribune—that explores two themes: the changing face of North Dakota as it makes the transition from an agrarian enclave at the heart of the North American continent to a more globally connected urban and industrial society; and the spirit of place of North Dakota, an isolated, windswept, subarctic grassland that has its own enchantment and astonishing beauty."
Whether you read only one essay in the book or all of them, mark your calendar for what will be an enjoyable evening. For the meeting on Wednesday, September 24, the location is still being determined. We are looking for space near the Logan Circle or Columbia Heights neighborhood. The meeting location will be metro accessible. If interested, we can also arrange a Skype session for those who are unable to travel to the meeting.
